      Introduction

In February 2024, my husband and I visited Dubai for the first time, and we were instantly captivated. Stepping foot into Dubai felt like stepping into a realm of boundless possibilities.

Despite spending a week in this captivating city, we found ourselves yearning for more time to explore its attractions fully.

During our week-long stay, we were able to indulge in the luxurious experiences that Dubai is famous for. However, despite our best efforts, there were still many attractions on our wish list that we simply didn’t have time for. This left us eager to return and uncover even more of this dynamic city’s treasures. Join us as we recount our adventures and share our plans for future explorations in the City of Gold.

Desert Safari, Quad Bike, Camel Ride & Al Khayma Camp

Embark on an exhilarating adventure into the heart of the Arabian desert with our bespoke desert safari experience. Feel the adrenaline course through your veins as you navigate the golden sands on a quad bike, surrender to the rhythm of the desert on a serene camel ride, and indulge in a sumptuous feast under the starlit sky at the Al Khayma Camp.

Burj Khalifa Fountain Show and Burj Lake Ride

Get ready to be captivated by the stunning Dubai Fountain Show, with the majestic Burj Khalifa as its backdrop. For those with extra time to spare, consider taking a leisurely cruise along the tranquil waters of Burj Lake aboard a traditional abra. Here, you can witness the mesmerizing dance of water, light, and music orchestrated to perfection. As the fountains burst to life in a symphony of vibrant colours and graceful movements, you’ll be enchanted by the sheer beauty and elegance of this unforgettable spectacle.

If you’re thinking of catching the light show at the fountain, just remember it kicks off at 1 p.m. and runs till 1:30 p.m. (1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays), then every half hour from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Getting there early is a must because it gets even more crowded as the show is about to start.

A great idea is to get there around 4 p.m. and grab a drink at one of the bars nearby. That way, you can snag a top spot (the bars are slightly raised on a platform so you can take great picures) and dodge the worst of the crowds directly by the fountain.

      Visit the Dubai Mall

The Dubai Mall, next to Burj Khalifa and the Burj Lake is a landmark in itself, where you can explore a vast array of luxury boutiques, designer stores, and international brands, all housed under one roof. One of the largest shopping malls in the world, you can indulge in the ultimate retail therapy experience. Don’t forget to check out the mesmerising Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo (situated next to the entrace to the Burj Khalifa, inside the mall).

      Burj Khalifa Observation Deck

This one had us divided. While acknowledging the impressive stature of the Burj Khalifa, ascending to the top of the world’s tallest building proved time-consuming.

Queues were seemingly endless, with observation decks located on the 124th and 148th floors, even with “skip the line” tickets merely reducing wait times marginally. Despite the bustling atmosphere atop the decks, the building’s architecture and the panoramic view it offers, including views of iconic landmarks such as the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Marina, and Burj Al Arab, were undeniably breathtaking.

      Ski Dubai

Escape the desert heat and experience the thrill of winter sports at Ski Dubai, an indoor ski resort nestled within the Mall of the Emirates. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner, there’s something for everyone here. Glide down the slopes and navigate through pristine ‘snow’ on the world’s first indoor black diamond run, or try your hand at snowboarding, tobogganing, and snow tubing.

If you’re not a fan of winter sports, you can meet the resident penguins in their icy habitat, take a chairlift ride with panoramic views of the snow-covered slopes, and enjoy après-ski dining and shopping at the Alpine-themed cafes and shops. It’s a luxurious snowsports experience where the slopes are perpetually perfect, and the snow never melts.

      Global Village

Embark on a cultural journey around the world at Dubai’s Global Village, a vibrant multicultural destination where you can experience the rich diversity of global cultures, traditions, and cuisines. Explore pavilions representing over 75 countries, each showcasing unique handicrafts, textiles, and souvenirs. Be dazzled by live performances, cultural shows, and entertainment spectacles from around the world, and indulge your taste buds with an array of international delicacies from street food stalls and food trucks.

The View At The Palm Observatory

See Dubai from a new perspective at The View At The Palm Observatory, with incredible panoramic views of the city’s skyline. Unlike the Burj Khalifa, going up to the observation deck was a breeze and the crowds weren’t too big. Below, you’ll see the iconic Burj Al Arab, the majestic Atlantis, The Palm and the impressive Palm island.
